SNC Pack: WK5

Back with more snacks! SNC suffered some recent losses across the board but it’s still full steam ahead for our org in the middle of a remarkable season. Last split we earned some respect and this split we’re breaking out!… I mean, breaking through, we’re breaking through! (SNC reminder to stay extra-hydrated and to wash your face with an oil-free face wash before bed.)

Overall, SNC has eighteen wins to four losses, good for an 0.818 winning percentage. Not bad! Most of the teams’ regular seasons are wrapping up—minus Dreaded Dawn who still have three more games to play—and all four teams are in playoff position, likely headed towards a top seed. As our focus turns toward title chases, we’ll take one last look at the recent regular season matches.

TWP Twempest Fwame (6-0)

This lone remaining undefeated SNC team is heading toward a huge WK6 game against Sub Optimal Gaming. At stake is an undisputed first seed in LBL Economy Group A. There’s not much to catch up on with Twempest as they’ve been handed two forfeits since we last saw them on the Rift—in WK5 and WK7—which means this WK6 matchup against SOG will be their last until the playoffs.

For those following LBL Economy chats, SOG actually @Twempest and sent them a challenger video in advance of the SNC-SOG game. Will Twempest have multimedia of their own to counter back?! We can find out tonight as LBL streams this much anticipated Tuesday matchup for first place.

If Twempest can finish out the regular season undefeated, does that make them the greatest SNC team of all-time? I would think so! So yeah, April 11th, 8:30PM EST, history could be made! Insert all the superlatives!!!

Note: SNC Xplosiv just made a trip out to live-watch the LCS Finals. He surely returned with not only merch but also some advanced tactics as well. Was he also in attendance as the SNC representative to open negotiations about a possibly to-be-vacated TSM LCS spot? Hum… Does Riot accept schmeckles as league fees?

GST Gathering Storm (5-1)

As of our last check-in, Gathering Storm was still named Ethereal Midnight and a little CC-locked from some roster shifting… Don’t look now but the storm came in fast and GS has now ripped off three straight 2-0 victories, vaulting them to second place in LBL Economy Group A. “The scaling continues!!” We don’t know if “scaling” is the right term here, as “snowballing” seems more appropriate for what Storm been doing to opponents.

With matching “GS” names from four of their five regular starters—non-GS named members eelfish and Iampancakes sound like delicious side orders—the chemistry for Falcon’s new-look squad has certainly coalesced quickly. Part of that instant bonding can be attributed to the duo-duo preexisting friendships between GS Ayuma / GS BioMatrix and GSG EVA 099 / GS milesizhigh, but we also want to highlight the hard work this team has put in over a short period of time.

And while GST has been questioned for its interpretation of the rules--you can swap top and mid lane guys, it's facts!--nothing can stop this storm from building (legally). After listening to a stream of their comms, we daresay Storm may already have some of the finest teamwork and coordination in SNC, with captain Ayuma proving to be a steady shotcaller. Impressive stuff! And newcomer BioMatrix has vaulted to the top of SNC's internal leaderboard, leading everyone in total kills with ninety in eight games--Ayuma is second actually, with eighty-five in twelve games..

With a playoff spot likely locked up, the only threat on the horizon are Naughty Sharks—who beat Ethereal WK2—and could be Storm’s greatest challenge ahead. Note: SNC experts recently crowned GSG EVA 099 "the best Yasuo main in SNC." Any challengers want to dispute that? 🌪️

SRV Sunset Ravens (4-2)

After starting off undefeated, it’s been a bumpier two weeks for Ravens as they’ve suffered consecutive 0-2 defeats, dropping them a step back from the list of BOL IBS contenders. Giant-killers Glacial Omen took out Ravens in WK5 while literal weather related issues took out SNC Xandradraeda, who was unable to make it to a much hyped WK6 matchup against CBDE Clowns due to a lack of electricity resulting from a Canadian storm.

On the verge of a forfeit—or sending in two smurfs dressed up as one very suspiciously tall Xandra—Ravens was scrambling to get an eSub into their match. Luckily, when the weather turns bad, SNC knows just what to do: we call for Raein! ☔️ Reprising her role as SNC utility sub last split, SNC Weign tried out a new comp role as ADC—or APC rather—with the team taking Lux-Karma and Seraphine-Thresh to the bot lane. Despite a very respectful effort from Weign in an emergency situation, Ravens ended up falling to the Clowns.

The good news is that a BOL IBS playoff spot has already been secured for Ravens, and next week’s regular season finale versus Event Horizon Kaizen will only matter for playoff seeding. With Xandra back safe and sound, Ravens will look to finish out strong before they glide into the postseason. [ Toxin WK5 | Wingman Midseason ]

DRD Dreaded Dawn (3-1)

After making their debut in LBL Commercial with three uncontested wins, Dreaded was upended in WK4—a close but ultimately resounding defeat to Team Volatility Academy, who are the new kings of Group B. Suffering a loss can often be a good thing—we here at SNC encourage many losses in fact, to build tenacity!—as it gives teams a chance to look at what can be improved. Sometimes going down is the only way to go up!

With the rest of the schedule looking lighter than the matchup versus TVA, Dreaded should now have some breathing room to experiment and innovate, and maybe prepare a skin comp for stream? We dare to dream! [ LestForce Commercial Write Up ]

SG2 Sun Guardians 2

Sometimes good things come back again. The Sun Bears were our original training team—before they took on the “Guardians” moniker and played in ZGG last split—and now SG2 rises again for another beautiful day. This offseason training team will be working together under the video direction of the appropriately named Maxim Sun--and will be operating under their innovative precepts.

The roster consists of some familiar names: SNC Sparkle Bear is the bossy INTer you dodge when you see them as your teammate. SNC Silent Bear is coming over from Lunar Academia—whose members are now working individually on their own games for awhile—and SNC Altair and Imítheos are familiar to all as former teammates on Ethereal Midnight.

SquishyRainbow and mid/support sub BetheHiro (Mochi) are new to comp, but both are ready to join the SNC party. Actually, Squishy had been the long time understudy for Radiant Dawn, and is now a supporter—just like her main role—and cheerleader of Dreaded Dawn, and she’s now ready to take her own game to the Rift. ☀️ The sun rises again! ☀️

And for those who have been asking the big SNC question: Where is Big?!? We sent an intrepid reporter over to his house and found him not there...the mystery! As it turns out, Big was in Asia for awhile and upon his return, has taken some time off to meditate and ponder his LOL existence. "[I'm] taking a break for awhile. It was messing with my sleep." So yeah, Big = Zoe bubbled. [ Nunu PFP by eelfiiish ]

SNC Brawl 2023: WK1 / WK2

Welcome to SNC Brawl, our mini-league where we play for fun! It’s six weeks of theme madness and we hope it’ll go well! We split up the teams--each week--by ELO and go from there, who knows what'll happen! [  Rules  |  Sheet  |  Stats  |  Twitch  ] 🔵 Blue: SNC Big Bear, ToukasRage, SNC Cerionna, Macros2308, JasonKBoy23 (GM1/3), EGirlFox (GM2) 🔴 Red: BigBoyPK, Adarasto, EGirlFox (GM1), huskyrunner18, Saint Millay, SNC Silent Bear (GM2/3) WK1GM1 Our first week for Brawl action was a simple “hello, getting to know you” gathering that featured faces old and new in an all-out battle on the Rift, featuring the different regions of Runeterra. First up would be The Void versus Targon—monsters versus gods, or something like that. Morally suspect versus morally suspect! The spicy bot lane of Soraka / Taric (piloted by SNC Cerionna and Macros2308) could only be matched by the Leona top (JasonKBoy23) versus a traditional Kai’Sa / Vel’Koz and a Cho’Gath. Thi...

SNC Winter 2023: Player Profiles

We did player profiles after split two and here we are again! As mentioned before in the regular season recap, SNC had twenty-seven players that hit the Rift this season and we're here to take a look at all of them! [ Split 2:  Part 1 | Part 2 ] SNC EJooN After a trip to the homeland before the split, EJooN came back from Korea leveled up and ready to finally make his debut in comp play. And what a debut it was as he truly made a name for himself in LBL Commercial, with one article even highlighting how EJoon had “blown expectations out of the water…[as an] aggressive player who [isn’t] afraid to take risks to build leads…and [EJooN’s] performance in every series so far reflects that.” It’s hard to believe that EJooN joined SNC as mostly a Mundo main, and now dominates with all sorts of top lane champions. With a fierce competitive drive, EJooN has shared with us that he also dances competitively… will we ever see his fancy footwork off the Rift? We sure hope so! Champs Played: ...

SNC Scuffle Stats: WK1 & WK2

We all know LOL is really a game about numbers right? How many kills, how much gold, how many of my teammates are gonna feed, how long do I de-install the game before reinstalling it? That kind of thing. So with that in mind, here are some Scuffle stats for us to look at! As we know, numbers never lie right?!? To start, our current standings are below: Grumpy Bears (4-2) Sunset Ravens (3-3) Sun Guardians (3-3) Radiant Twilight (2-4) [ Scuffle Stats sheet ] On the first tab we have every player’s combined KDA compiled across all of their games — some players had games in two roles, or even two teams. The next tab is the results and stats from the twelve games we’ve had so far. And following that is the "individual" tab that has sortable stats from each game, and the last tab has the same info but with KDA, CS/M, and G/Min compiled. Taking the top players — by statistics — over the past two Scuffles (minus players with only one game), we see the entire top five being dominate...
