SNC Mini-Scuffle 4: IBS Division

For our fourth mini-Snack Scuffle Invitational, we’re going to have a full eight teams—four in each division! With Season 13 just starting and comp leagues around the corner, we have quite a few brand-new faces and a few brand-new teams. Let’s take a look our IBS teams! [ Scuffle 4 Gold-ish Preview ]

1. Sunset Ravens

Our steady BOL holdovers are almost unrecognizable from their end-of-the-season iteration, with only ADC Xandradraeda returning from last split’s roster. Moving over from Dreaded Dawn, we have SNC WildStar—SNC’s versatile super sub from last split—now manning top lane for Ravens.

Two former BOL opponents, SNC LostHavok and OnlyMagicalGirls, have joined up with SNC from their former teams, Wooper Academy and Goon Squad Gaming, respectively. (LostHavok was the mid for Wooper but now re-roled to jungle.) Both have been welcome additions to a Ravens team that is looking to contend for the BOL IBS title.

And in the support role, we have SNC Nebulous starting in SNC Grimmjow’s stead—where art thou Grimmy?—after having spent some time with the Tempest Flame team. The new-look Ravens are going to work on all the things SNC overlord Otom has taught them and look to prove that they are the best of IBS!

Player to Watch: It’s always exciting to get a good new jungler on a SNC team, especially one with a fun champ pool like LostHavok. We’ll be watching to see what they can do to bring Ravens together!

2. Noctis

After a sustained tryout period, this new IBS roster has already undergone quite a few changes. The top went to ADC, the mid went to support, and the everything went everywhere all at once. In the end, there’s still an open starting spot in mid—which will be manned by coach CT Seulgi (formerly Moonbyul) for the Scuffle--as the team is still looking to get their feet underneath them for the start of BOL IBS season.

The most interesting feature of Noctis is their three-phantom lineup consisting of support Phantom8Bît (the original “phantom”), ADC PhantomHunt3r, and jungler Phantom Catgirl. This is the type of synergy SNC is looking for, and there are rumors that new top laner TheSTRisPURE could be encouraged to become a phantom as well. Wouldn’t that be something! [Edit: pekh and swagnemite12 will be subbing jungle and mid, respectively.]

Player to Watch: Aside from the three phantoms, we have our eye on the mysterious mid lane tryout and the jungle sub. (Seulgi is likely playing ADC instead of mid as PhantomHunt3r will have to miss the Scuffle.)

3. Ethereal Midnight

Our newest IBS team, constructed just a week or two ago—and still possibly undergoing a name change—has had very little time to play together but has aspirations to show up and show out this weekend.

SNC Terror Bear and SNC Share Bear—previously SNC Wombat and Kamiiisha—were looking to play together and turned to Coach Falcön to lead them into the comp scene—most likely playing in LBL Economy. Share Bear brought her support SNC Saltiee along to join in and new faces Magenticore and gsjan were recruited shortly thereafter. (Shout out to subs Imítheos and Iampancakes57.)

With most everyone on this team new to comp play, it’ll be an exciting time for Ethereal Midnight to see what their first set of organized games can bring. [Edit: The esteemed eelfish will be subbing mid lane.]

Player to Watch: This one is a cheat but we’re keeping an eye on Falcön and assistant coach Pheönix’s work behind the scene and maybe some spicy comps!

4. Lunar Academia

Our academy team—following in the footsteps of the new defunct Sun Bears/Guardians—are also known as Ammo and friends. Four of the five members of this team are IRL friends and that makes for good energy and fun.

With the will to improve and a so far sterling attendance record—maybe the best in SNC?!—these new-to-comp play rookies will be working on synergzing in a five-man before they take to any leagues. Note, this team already has four SNC-ed members: Angel, CHUH, AmmoCr8, and Dark. We love it! (Sun Bears was also the first team to go all SNC if I recall correctly.)

Top laner Mr Oryx is swinging between Noctis and Lunar Academia, and rumors are that SNC Silent Bear could make a sub appearance at the Scuffle.

With their first practice scrim under their belt from this past Wednesday, our academy team is ready to line up in proper LCS order and take to the Rift!

Player to Watch: With SNC Angel unable to play, we’ll have SNC Silent Bear stepping in to zoom zoom in the jungle. Having played on our Elemental Development League IBS team a few splits ago, Silent will be looking to lead the academy team to a victory!

SNC Pack: WK1

In a shocking turn of events, SNC is undefeated after one week of official comp games. From mere babies who won just one match in Proton League to running the table so far in 2023. Where should we put the statue? Whose faces should go on Mount Snackmore? Do we disband as soon as one team loses? Do we just FF now?! While we don’t care about the wins here at SNC--have fun is priority one--it sure is nice to be on top of the Rift for a few moments. Thanks guys! And thank you all for your hard work and patience through the off-season, it's looking like we'll have a great split across the board! A Guide to LOL IBS Teams

After some time in the amateur League of Legends IBS (Iron Bronze Silver) community, I’ve seen a number of same names pop up over and over again.  Since IBS is where many new players to “comp”—competitive—enter the scene, I thought it would be useful to give a quick overview of some of the more common destinations for the new LOL traveler. Welcome to Runeterra, welcome to IBS! [ LOL IBS Orgs Questionnaire ]   Note: The content of this post will be updated as feedback comes in. If you’d like to be given a capsule and have been on the IBS scene for at least one split, fill this out and I’ll do my best to get it in!  If there’s any edits or adds to be made to the current capsules, please do tell! TD The reigning kings of IBS, TD stands for whatever is up to your personal interpretation. The easiest association for TD is to call them "team diff," as they have won more titles than any other org. TD even placed three of their teams into the first ever IBS Amateur Worlds ...

SNC Mighty Pandas: End 2023

SNC Mighty Pandas (Series: 5-2, Games: 11-6) As one of our longer running teams, Sunset Ravens was formed back in SNC’s new era , having started about four splits ago. Last year’s leader, SNC WildStar, returned for duty once again and found himself surrounded by new faces—which also induced the name change to “Mighty Pandas.” While under heavy recruitment from other orgs and teams, WildStar knew his home was here at Snack Bears, where the snacks are salty and the jokes are sweet. New jungler eaglei1313 came via Twempest Fwame, as a friend of Amanda’s. Phallic Phenom and JamiesTurnTV were both new to SNC, teammates from a past Glacial teams And last but never least, there was Adarasto, who played with SNC’s own Grumpy Bears way back when. Over time, eaglei1313 had to unfortunately take a sub position due to time constraints and so another ex-Grumpy, XtheBeard, joined Mighty as the starting jungler. The core Mighty four played all fifteen games together this season, with XtheBeard gett...
