SNC Brawl 2023: WK1 / WK2

Welcome to SNC Brawl, our mini-league where we play for fun! It’s six weeks of theme madness and we hope it’ll go well! We split up the teams--each week--by ELO and go from there, who knows what'll happen!

Rules | Sheet | Stats | Twitch ]

πŸ”΅ Blue: SNC Big Bear, ToukasRage, SNC Cerionna, Macros2308, JasonKBoy23 (GM1/3), EGirlFox (GM2)

πŸ”΄ Red: BigBoyPK, Adarasto, EGirlFox (GM1), huskyrunner18, Saint Millay, SNC Silent Bear (GM2/3)

WK1GM1

Our first week for Brawl action was a simple “hello, getting to know you” gathering that featured faces old and new in an all-out battle on the Rift, featuring the different regions of Runeterra. First up would be The Void versus Targon—monsters versus gods, or something like that. Morally suspect versus morally suspect! The spicy bot lane of Soraka / Taric (piloted by SNC Cerionna and Macros2308) could only be matched by the Leona top (JasonKBoy23) versus a traditional Kai’Sa / Vel’Koz and a Cho’Gath.

Things started off surprisingly well for our off-meta team, as Leona secured a solo kill on still-tiny Cho! However, the tables started to turn as the purple people eaters started taking over, with Bel’Veth (BigBoyPK) and Malhazar (EGirlFox) wiping out foes with their CC. By the time big Cho appeared, the game was all but over, as the race was on to see if AP Soraka would be able to secure a kill.

Unfortunately the answer to that would be a plain old “nope!” and Targon fell to The Void by a score of 8-26. The spirit of fun LOL was jump started though, as our first Brawl game featured an exciting off-kilter matchup! [Note: Furry and Juice cast the entire series but we can’t quite recall all that happened so this will be short, and possibly some of it made up.]

Highlight skin: Three Honors Malhazar (EGirlFox)

WK1GM2

Taking “random” to an all new level, our Brawl ARAMs would be all random champions, with no rerolls. What you pay for is what you get!The infallible casters were evenly split between which comp would be the best so it was time to see who was a liar and who was a truthsayer… [Note: EGirlFox swapped sides for SNC Silent Bear, as JasonKBoy23 sat out and joined the cast.]

Would the Mundo-led frontline of team Blue be enough to fend off a hard charging Olaf and beefy Galio? The early answer to that question would be “no,” as Sivir and crew pushed the Mundoverse around. Both teams just threw themselves at each other, mashing buttons all along the way, with only Sivir (Saint Millay) staying out of the fray for the most part while racking up kills.

For the viewers, this was great stuff, as fiestas are our favorite! Xayah showed no fear, taking the hexgate into four people at one point, while Vex dove behind tower multiple times, looking for big burst damage. Spoiler: both died! Somehow through all this madness, Orianna secured a quadra kill, and then an unofficial penta, which would have been amazing to see! (BigBoyPK got an actual penta on Ezreal later in the night post-Brawl.)

The back-and-forth was furious but in the end, Xayah damage was too much, while Irelia had a game-sealing double kill, and our first run-it-down mid game was over at an even 54-54 and a victory for Blue. Nice work!

Highlight skin: NEO PAX Sivir (Saint Millay)

WK1GM3

Our last game of the match was Freljord versus Zaun, even though Ziggs came dressed in Snow Day and the official SNC loremaster had to be called in to take a ruling on the hot-headed Brand being eligible for Freljord. As it turned out, Brand is originally a tribesman from Freljord and here at SNC, we honor our personal histories.

Once again, we got a spicy bot lane from Blue, as friends JasonKBoy23 and Macros2308 would team up with an Urgot and Zac combo versus the ice-and-fire of Ashe (huskyrunner18) and Brand (Saint Millay).  Our favorite Netflix star, Ekko, would face off against an Ornn jungle, as our two Bigs—BigBoyPK and Big Bear, both former Dreaded Dawn players—looked to lead their region to victory. And what would Snack Bears be without an emphasis on animals? Our top lane matchup of SNC Silent Bear and SNC Cerionna would be Volibear versus Twitch. Would a Twitch win mean we change our clan name to “Snack Rats?” Rebranding opportunity?!? πŸ•πŸ€ Oh and let’s not forget Sejuani mid versus Ziggs. We were hoping to see one-shot AP Sejuani from Adarasto but it was a standard tank build for the Winter’s Claw Warmother.

The early game saw Ashe dominate, and well, dominate. Despite Urgot and Zac surviving in lane pretty well, Ashe got fed and it looked like Zaun would be sent back to the undercity pretty quickly. However, Twitch got a few freebie kills and Ziggs was also slowly gaining steam. With poor macro decisions all around—a SNC specialty!—the game was close and there were missed skill shots aplenty—another SNC area of expertise—while the lead changed hands multiple times.

Urgot and Zac started proving their worth late--Urgot had one gigantic Fear Beyond Death that feared just long enough for Twitch to clean up a team fight for example—as the two sides faced off multiple times. With Ziggs fully online with some painful Mega Inferno Bombs and Twitch (sometimes) showing up to Spray and Pray, Blue was able to complete the comeback after sieging down multiple towers.

Highlight skin: Ocean Song Ashe (husky runner18)

πŸ”΅ Blue: ToukasRage, BigBoyPK, So Not Cool, MrVitis, Adarasto

πŸ”΄ Red: SNC Silent Bear, SNC Big Bear, SNC Cerionna, Saint Millay, Macros2308, Only Magical Girls (sub)

WK2GM1

For WK2 we were headed towards an all ADC and all assassins showdown. After separating out the teams, we compiled a list of eligible ADCs and drafted them one-by-one—with ToukasRage’s Blue team going first off the strength of another monumental game of LOL Sketch. (Whoever drew the πŸ§€ for Twitch was inspired!)

With the first overall pick, Blue took Miss Fortune, followed by a Jinx for Red. Two support ADCs went next with Senna and Jinx, before the jungle duo of Ezreal and Tristana were secured. Samira was drafted for some anti-Ashe action, while Twitch was taken by Red. And to follow up, it would be top lane menace Kalista and mid lane terror Lucian, respectively.

Right off the bat, an early invade turned quickly into disaster for Red as Samira picked up two quick kills. The highlight matchup in mid with Dreaded Dawn teammates BigBoyPK and SNC Cerionna was on—with Arctic piloting his signature Lucian no less. As expected, the entire mid lane was a bloody affair, with PK ending up 17/11 while Arctic went 13/13, with multiple solo kills all around and across the map.

The real story was happening bot lane though, as Victor Wembanyama aka Miss Fortune justified her first selection with a triple kill early on, as MrVitis flashed to kill Saint Millay—friendship means death served!—and then took out Macros2308’s Ashe as he tried to hide behind the lane alcove. By the time Tristana (SNC Big Bear) showed up, she was just a victim to the Miss Fortune and Senna (Adarasto)’s pew pew pew. Miss Fortune hopped out to a quick 5/1 start and then her massive Bullet Time started ripping through the Red team over and over.

Still, the entire game was a back-and-forth affair with nary any CC to be found—what a delight! Red’s Twitch (SNC Silent Bear) threatened to quietly take over with a 15/7 stat line as the game turned into a Miss Fortune and Samira versus Lucian and Twitch “who’s more fed” bake off. In the end, Blue eked out a win in just over forty minutes as they won two consecutive late game battles.

Did we mention a skin was on the line? The highest damage ADC would be awarded a skin at the end of the game. The winner was Miss Fortune with 45,121 damage, followed by 41,883 from Lucian. Congrats MrVitis!

Highlight skin: Faerie Court Kalista (ToukasRage)

WK2GM2

How many lives does one cat need? Apparently just one as SNC Silent put on a show in ARAM, as Yuumi went deathless for twenty full minutes—with the combined deaths of both teams at 103 in one of the bloodiest ARAMs we’ve seen yet!

Proving that cats are the real animal best friends—despite Silent preferring wolves—Yuumi hopped on and off her entire team, powering Twitch (SNC Cerionna) and Kog’Maw (Macros2308) to some magical stat lines.

The Blue side featured an eagle, a dragon, a Void spawned naked mole-rat, and a trident-wielding fish Yordle. But this game was really all about that cat, and at 19:56 min, there was a feline murder, right as Red was threatening to end the game—indeed “ggs” were already being said when Fuzz Fizz (ToukasRage) ran Yuumi down for her first death, preserving the game momentarily and crushing the dreams of a deathless ARAM for Silent.

In the end however, cats and rats proved to be just better—with a final score of 80-59 kills—as Red had Syndra (Saint Millay) keeping the opposing divers at bay while Ornn (SNC Big Bear) proved to be unkillable by games’ end. Yuumi died so Red could win, what a BFF to all!

Highlight skin: SKT T1 Syndra (Saint Millay)

WK2GM3

Our much anticipated all assassins matchup started with a Kha’Zix pick by Red, followed by Pyke, Kayn, Ekko, Shaco, Akali, Talon, Evelynn, LeBlanc, and Nidalee. As it turned out, it would be three or four M7s versus some less than M7s, and the stage was set for multiple murders. [Note: OnlyMagicalGirls subbed in for SNC Cerionna this game.] The action started early as Kha’Zix  (SNC Big Bear) invaded Blue side jungle early, drawing everyone’s attention over and over, setting the stage for things to come…

In the top lane, it was K/DA Akali (Adarasto) versus an eventual blue Snow Moon Kayn (Silent), while mid featured Star Guardian Ekko (So Not Cool) versus Prestige Coven LeBlanc (OMG). Saint Millay’s much-feared Shaco was teamed up with Talon (Macros2308) in the bot lane versus Nidalee (ToukasRage) and Pyke (BigBoyPK), with Pyke getting some early kills and then roaming frequently across the map.

Things were still close overall at the fifteen minute mark, with Red up by only two thousand gold and the score 11-9. However, the 3/1 LeBlanc was gaining steam off some excellent roams while Kha’Zix still controlled the jungle—despite Evelynn’s bounty. Five minutes later however, three of the Red players had bounties of their own—Kha’Zix, LeBlanc, Talon—and the rout was on despite the best efforts of Akali and Pyke. The two-some of Big Bear and OMG was unstoppable, as they pulled of their John Wick and Elektra impersonations, finishing 13/4 and 15/3 respectively, spreading instant murder across the map as they helped secure all four dragons for their team.

In the end, it was a 42-24 drubbing by Red, and they showed Blue that getting one-shot by fellow assassins could be fun for all! RIP…

Skin win: OMG’s LeBlanc put out the most damage—39,705 damage—but OMG graciously declined the skin for someone else. That someone was Adarasto’s Akali with 25,941 damage.

Highlight skin: Challenger Nidalee (ToukasRage)

Style League: SNC vs SNC

SNC Mighty Pandas vs SNC Space Sloths A rip in the time space continuum—okay fine it was just a time change—has given us this epic matchup of SNC versus SNC. Like a throwback to our Snack Scuffles of yore , Sunday night will see two SNC teams face off for a huge prize: um, respect? Extra doughnuts at practices? (Is this our first official intra-org battle in an organized league? We whiffed on last split’s potential LBL Commercial playoff matchup between Twempest and Dreaded so I think it is!) Let’s take a quick preview of tonight’s Bo3 and get hype! We'll also be making our debut as official Twitch Affiliates, so we expect to break all our ratings records with this prime time showdown. Thank you to PK for working so hard to get our fifty subscribers and to do all the behind-the-scenes work setting up the streams and Twitch stuff. And also a huge thank you to Squishy Rainbow for doing our SNC overlays and that spinny blue thing on the wait screen which is apparently done frame by fr

SNC End 2023 Recap

What an end to our fourth, or fifth split, we can't even recall! In a shocking turn of events, SNC is now an org with championships! πŸ†πŸ† Two of them in fact! How did this happen?!? I have no idea, but it’s certainly due to the time and effort you all have dedicated to LOL and to each other. “I wouldn’t give up the community of SNC for the world. It’s a really great [and] positive community.” For this split, we had a smaller amount of teams by design. Less mouths to feed, more snacks for all! πŸ§ Hopefully that still made it a fun time for everyone and for next split it looks like we’ll grow by a team or two, as post-split, you’ve indicated that you’d like to have more SNCs hanging around. As always, we’re here to serve at SNC. Thank you for a wonder end of 2023 all! Let’s look at last splits’ three teams, a SNC Pack throwback : [ Mighty Pandas | Twempest Fwame | Dreaded Dawn ] And lest we forget, we made two podcast episodes too, with WildStar and Adarasto, and Amanda and Xand

SNC Mighty Pandas: End 2023

SNC Mighty Pandas (Series: 5-2, Games: 11-6) As one of our longer running teams, Sunset Ravens was formed back in SNC’s new era , having started about four splits ago. Last year’s leader, SNC WildStar, returned for duty once again and found himself surrounded by new faces—which also induced the name change to “Mighty Pandas.” While under heavy recruitment from other orgs and teams, WildStar knew his home was here at Snack Bears, where the snacks are salty and the jokes are sweet. New jungler eaglei1313 came via Twempest Fwame, as a friend of Amanda’s. Phallic Phenom and JamiesTurnTV were both new to SNC, teammates from a past Glacial teams And last but never least, there was Adarasto, who played with SNC’s own Grumpy Bears way back when. Over time, eaglei1313 had to unfortunately take a sub position due to time constraints and so another ex-Grumpy, XtheBeard, joined Mighty as the starting jungler. The core Mighty four played all fifteen games together this season, with XtheBeard gett
