SNC Split 2: Player Profiles, Part 1

A look at the players that played with us for last split—our second, excluding single teams in the past. One of our goals for split three is for everyone to interact more and to build upon our chemistry org-wide. So here is a little primer on each and every one of you. (If I’ve left you out, apologies and I’ll write one up right quick!)

It’s been a pleasure all and I hope you can correct any factual errors I have made. My memory is shot, just like my LOL skills. Oh I never had any skill? Good call. All five flash invade over the wall on three...1-2-3!

We'll be starting off with all the SNC branded names--thanks for assimilating my friends--and then an overflow into a second part. [ Part 2 ]

SNC Big

Having only started the game as a way to kill time during the beginning stages of the pandemic, Big has transformed himself from a meandering newbie into this (in just two short seasons): “the star of the SNC show has to be jungler SNC Big. While the players around him have changed depending on the week, Big has been the rock of SNC [Sunset Ravens].”

Proving that mastering one champion at a time is the surefire way to accelerate your growth, Big has shown us carry Nunu—including the greatest Nunu play I’ve ever seen, "they don't know, they don't know!!!"—tank Kha’Zix, multiple versions of destroyer Diana, and now an increasing facility with team-oriented junglers like Amumu and Sejuani. As an original Snack Bear, and after 1260 games played together, I have had first-row seats to the Big evolution and now he yells at me instead of the other way around. I couldn't be prouder.

With three completed splits under his belt and a tilt-proof mental—along with a “no bullshit” attitude—the former BigxMother is the stone cold jungler everyone wants on their side.

Signature champ: Nunu

SNC Cat

El Gato! Before we had our Cat she was SaveMeTae, which was apt as her Yuumi was unparalleled. Riding around with her carries, she regularly got them fed and then laughed as her team ended lives—and dreams—on the Rift.

As the heartbeat and co-captain of Sun Bears / Guardians—Cat was responsible for bringing in many of the team’s players and coaches. She was indirectly a manager for SNC in this way and I don’t think we would’ve had a third IBS team last split without her. πŸ‘ On the Rift, Cat’s kinetic energy and enthusiasm kept the team solar powered.

Unfortunately, Cat never made it into a comp game with us—yet another SNC sidelined due to college, uuuugh college, bleh—but Cat is still very much around as SNC cheerleader and occasional in-house player. We miss you Cat, Hades, Sleepy!

Signature champ: Yummi, of course. Having said that, ban the cat at your own risk because then SNC Cat will be coming for you...

SNC Cerionna

A rebrand may be in order. “SNC Menace” could be appropriate as Arctic has been kicked off his last five teams. Last month’s fourteen day ban was surely not a first time offense… But perhaps this blonde-dyed bad boy has been softened by his time with SNC. A disapproving “tsk tsk” over a recent SNC’s opponent’s extra use of emotes showed us that maybe “SNC Sportmanship” could be Arctic's a new moniker.

Nah! Our Arctic should be “SNC Boost” as in boosted ego because he thinks he can win all the fights. And most of the time, he can! With the skills to back up his penchant for fighting, Arctic’s flashy qualities can often hide his quieter contributions. He’s the only ADC I've ever met that regularly outpaces the rest of his team in vision score. I guess if you get fed early and often, you can afford a few pretty red trinkets.

“SNC Confidence” wouldn’t be bad either as any team with Arctic on it has a chance to win, no matter the odds. Perhaps “SNC (ImKindOf)Cracked” is the way to go….?

Signature champ: Get Excited Jinx

SNC Chef

Our original and first chef, Chef Flashy, has been a long-time Snack loyalist and supporter. Part of the Corvus Blade crew, along with Raining and Moonbyul, Chef was the rock-solid weak side top laner for our second Elemental Development League, alongside Moonbyul, Talon, Silent, and Esca. Those were some good times hunh?

After taking a break from League for awhile, Chef dropped in to help us close out this split’s ZGG split for Sun Guardians, going back to his original main: support. An OG member of SNC After Dark, Flashy is mostly free Sundays, so that’s when the party begins!

Signature champ: Leona

SNC Clementine

We’ve called Pudge “the Picasso of the jungle” before, but we think that may have been underselling it. Look at this mid-period work by the now re-dubbed SNC Clementine—“Clementine” to match his signature, self-created, font:

In the immortal words of Paris Hilton (and Arctic): that’s [fucking] hot!

The former Lee Sin one-trick has now expanded his champ pool—discovering the wonders of Nocturne for example (What is Pudge’s interest in blind things? Teemo jungle can’t be far behind…)—and after some time away due to scheduling, may be making a return to SNC very soon.

Pudge has been with us off-and-on for two splits now, beginning as a new-ish to the game jungler that we threw in the deep end of comp play—and he held up marvelously, which is not easy to do. An ego-less player and a natural teammate, Pudge displays enormous potential with his mechanics—honestly, what beginning player starts maining Lee Sin?!

In the grand tradition of Canadian comedic exports, Pudge is also hilarious with his jovial spirit, endless memes, and entertaining takes. Everyone loves hanging with Pudge and we can’t wait to see what lucky team he ends up on.

Signature champ: Leeeee Siiiiinnnn

SNC EJooN

Despite less than a year on the Rift, our Korean import has already proven he can hang with veterans who’ve been playing this game for much longer. Rarely seen out of the top lane, EJooN has shown us that not all top mains are %#@* people!… Just the other 99% non-SNC of them. Of course, EJooN was probably recently fourteen day banned for sending flowers to his fallen foes? Right?

Gone are the days when EJooN’s shallow champ pool would be targeted and now that this budding carry—in-game and literally, as he goes to the gym a lot—has found the church of Sejuani and Bristle, he may be five banned soon! Another SNC member that is regularly on after midnight, we may have to start a whole new team: SNC After Hours?

Signature champ: Corporate Mundo

SNC Grimmjow

From starting off last split as a sub on Sun Guardians to becoming the indispensable captain and lynchpin of Sunset Ravens, Grim stepped way up to lead his team to the top of BOL’s Piltover division regular season standings. Through on and off-the-Rift adversity, Grim has proven to be the glue, and the marketing engine, of our most successful SNC team ever. Yes, ever!

Dedicated and passionate despite an incredibly stressful schedule, it’s a marvel Dad Grim—hi Grim Jr., πŸ‘‹!—finds time to do anything. We appreciate everything this Master of Sha-dough has done for SNC and can’t wait to see what he’ll toss up for next split.

Signature champ: I want to imagine it’s Baker Pantheon but I guess it’s really his perma-banned Zed.

SNC Hades

The co-captain of the Sun Guardians, Hades came to us as the best Irelia player I’d ever seen. Opposing teams: Do not let Hades get his FPS honed hands on Irelia! With world-class mechanics and the ability to hard carry any game, Hades eventually found his way back to his preferred ADC role, where he continued his work slaying enemies. This dark and mysterious soul had his veil pulled back early on though, and was revealed as a super nice guy who was a delight to play with! A delightful Snack!

Sidenote: When assembling the original Sun Bears I did not realize I had inadvertently created one of my dream comp league comps: all ADCs, all the time. In that SNC fanfic, we would feature Vayne top, Kai’Sa mid, Jinx ADC, and Ashe support. (Hades, Moonbyul, Arctic, and Sleepy, respectively.) Cat would of course do jungle Yuumi and then hop onto the carry of her choice. When can we make this lineup a reality? When can we get a SNC event Riot?! The plotline would be these gun and crossbow Guardians banding together to recover the souls of their fallen coaches—there were so many. That sounds better than the Ruination event, amiright?

As the third Guardian member taking a step back due to academics, Hades can still be seen on the Rift here and there, and probably also firing up Overwatch 2. We await your full review Hades!

Signature champ: Tough call, but we’ll go with Vayne here. That Irelia though…

SNC Juice

Irreplaceable multi-lane carry and invincible mechanical god? Future inevitable and undaunted team leader of many comp leagues titles?

“Just pay the bills and keep the lights on!” Okay, got it… Skin themes on stream anyone???

Signature champ: Poppy, but it was Smite Zoe before they flattened smite damage. Now it’s just “no steal ever but I’m not going to stop trying” Zoe. Otherwise known as 3.3 CS Zoe.

SNC Mayhem

The now re-dubbed eelfish has been a constant in the mid lane for SNC across multiple teams as starter and key sub. She was our ultimate plug-and-play savior, capable of coming in at a moment’s notice to blend in seamlessly with a team or to hard carry while laughing out, “get lost, nerd!”

Armed with plenty of sardonic takes and a biting sarcasm, Mayhem is simply a joy to play with and plenty hilarious. Remember when she made Furry “meow” for healing?…And then he did it! 😹

In addition to her talents on the Rift, Mayhem is a fantastic artist as well, having created profile photos for quite a few Snack Bears. She's open for commissions--eelfiish.carrd.co--and she's always available to help style all over our enemies, spaaaare no sympathy! πŸŽ΅ (Shout out to Mayhem's brother, SNC Wombat. Our Taric-Lee Sin bot lane in comp dreams will arrive next split...)

Signature champ: Veigar

πŸ‘‘ SNC Moonbyul

Only one player has changed their name to SNC two separate times: the one and only Moonbyul, who was first known to us as Snow, then Queen, then Albedo. Whatever the name, the game remained the same: All-Star, many times over. (And now Moon is an Aegis champion via Coachless Tyranny. That’s what the crown is for silly!)

Beyond that, Moonbyul has been our comp org’s superstar, fulfilling literally every role we have had up to this point—player, captain, coach, advisor, executioner. Moon started playing with us when we were just comp league cubs, back in Runeterra days, and then held down mid lane on our Elemental Developmental League team with Talon and Chef.

An available mentor off the Rift and capable of regularly winning all five lanes on it, Moonbyul truly is the definition of versatility. (I honestly didn’t even know Moon was a support main and when I saw their god-like support game, I wept in rapture.)

In addition to all this, Moonbyul organized and ran the very first SNC tryout, and was instrumental in building out SNC with their experience and insight. If Moonbyul says someone is good or bad, I trust them and adjust my thinking accordingly!

Perpetually on the verge of retirement, Moonbyul keeps get dragged back to comp by someone who needs them—be it SNC or one of the many orgs they’ve played for. Across all these IBS leagues, the only name anyone has ever recognized from our roster was Moonbyul. When they first put on that “SNC,” it legitimized us. 😿 [This is starting to sound like a wedding speech…]

If only we could’ve won more for Moonbyul instead of making him suffer with us baby Snacks. But in the fountain of death, we bond together! Ggs, and a grand thank you!

Signature champ: All of them? If pressed I’d say AP Kai’Sa mid?

SNC NumNums

The former coach for Sunset Ravens—and the inspiration behind all these themed team names—may speak in many voices but always has one consistent message: be better. As in be better for yourself, be better for others, be better for the team. Heck, be better in everything and for your life!

As player scout and general manager, Nums showcased an eye for talent as he drafted the successful Raven’s BOL roster. Coach Nums was consistently creative with his practices, set a proper foundation, and helped get Ravens off to a fast start.

Now back-to-just-player Nums has carved out time in his very busy schedule to play for us on Dreaded Dawn while remaining a valuable resource for all of SNC. ThanksThanks NummyNums! Your work on that voice changer is S+. Also, please be safe driving!

Signature champ: Azir top. And we saw the Azir ADC tech the other day too.

SNC Reign

A new addition to SNC, Reign has been role swapped from jungle to top to support, but ultimately may land somewhere else. Dependably solid in any role, Reign has been an asset to Radiant with her constant energy and enthusiasm.

New to our comps leagues but not to organized play, Reign has experience on her high school team and also her circle of Clash friends. One day we hope they’ll visit SNC-land via the Scuffle… As a trusted utility sub, we got Reign some official game time the last few weeks with Sun Guardians ZGG. We're ready to see more soon!

Also, as evidenced by her dexterity with the ping wheel, Reign sees a lot on and off the Rift. Her post-game notes and analysis have been outstanding and her game knowledge reveals a deep appreciation for the nuances of the game. The only thing standing in the way of Raien’s future SNC reign is…calc homework?!

Signature champ: Gw—why does she do no damage anymore—en ✂️

SNC Sleepy

In another bio, we said that SNC Cat was the beating heart of the Sun Guardians. Well, here’s the swoony heartthrob of that team: Sleepy! (Technically SNC Sleepy II, but all super-type teams have two, or more, versions of heroes right?)

No, we don’t actually know what Sleepy looks like, but we do know what he sounds like and well, it sounds like “pew pew pew, Ashe arrow Ashe arrow…pew pew pew! Ice ice ice!” But like lower. Much much lower. πŸ’ž I’m a puddle now…

After training at ADC for all of Guardians’ pre-season, Sleepy last minute selflessly role swapped to top and made his comp debut there on the likes of Shen, Akali, and Fiora. A latecomer to the wonders of Ornn, Sleepy was the only SNC top who deigned to play the Forge God. [Every night I kneel down by the anvil I’ve placed next to my IKEA bed and πŸ™that our tops will play Ornn. Only Sleepy ever answered. All in all, not terrible I guess.]

After a too quick foray into the beginning weeks of ZGG with us, Sleepy had to take a backseat due to school. Unfortunately, not one of the now in-university Sun Bears matriculated to Summoner School, I guess getting an off-Rift education is okay too. Hear you soon Sleepy!

Signature champ: Ashe

SNC StepKiwi

The other day during a game, I found myself saying out loud: “We need a Speedwick this game…if only we had Kiwi’s Warwick to go steal this Baron.”

One of the few members left over from Dreaming’s Luce Aeterna team, StepKiwi has a deep bag of tricks up his sleeve. If happychimenoises videos were to be personified, we’d get Kiwi’s preferred champ pool. As Radiant Twilight’s sub, Kiwi was willing to take anything mid lane. Hell, he was willing to take anything anywhere. What are lanes?! Did this lead to some disasters? Sure! But it was always fun, and in the sometimes rigid box of competitive play, Kiwi was an outlier and a pioneer.

Prone to early roams—appearing suddenly in someone else’s lane, a surprise to teammates and opponents alike—Kiwi’s off-kilter game could catch other teams off-guard and help himself or a teammate get ahead. And in darker times, Kiwi’s enthusiasm and stream of consciousness upbeatness could alleviate a team’s descent into tilt. The Kiwi experience is a unique one and we say, "keep Kiwi Kiwi-ing!"

Signature champ: I have no idea. Can we champ select Kiwi’s profile pic and then the client just randomizes?

Style League: SNC vs SNC

SNC Mighty Pandas vs SNC Space Sloths A rip in the time space continuum—okay fine it was just a time change—has given us this epic matchup of SNC versus SNC. Like a throwback to our Snack Scuffles of yore , Sunday night will see two SNC teams face off for a huge prize: um, respect? Extra doughnuts at practices? (Is this our first official intra-org battle in an organized league? We whiffed on last split’s potential LBL Commercial playoff matchup between Twempest and Dreaded so I think it is!) Let’s take a quick preview of tonight’s Bo3 and get hype! We'll also be making our debut as official Twitch Affiliates, so we expect to break all our ratings records with this prime time showdown. Thank you to PK for working so hard to get our fifty subscribers and to do all the behind-the-scenes work setting up the streams and Twitch stuff. And also a huge thank you to Squishy Rainbow for doing our SNC overlays and that spinny blue thing on the wait screen which is apparently done frame by fr

SNC End 2023 Recap

What an end to our fourth, or fifth split, we can't even recall! In a shocking turn of events, SNC is now an org with championships! πŸ†πŸ† Two of them in fact! How did this happen?!? I have no idea, but it’s certainly due to the time and effort you all have dedicated to LOL and to each other. “I wouldn’t give up the community of SNC for the world. It’s a really great [and] positive community.” For this split, we had a smaller amount of teams by design. Less mouths to feed, more snacks for all! πŸ§ Hopefully that still made it a fun time for everyone and for next split it looks like we’ll grow by a team or two, as post-split, you’ve indicated that you’d like to have more SNCs hanging around. As always, we’re here to serve at SNC. Thank you for a wonder end of 2023 all! Let’s look at last splits’ three teams, a SNC Pack throwback : [ Mighty Pandas | Twempest Fwame | Dreaded Dawn ] And lest we forget, we made two podcast episodes too, with WildStar and Adarasto, and Amanda and Xand

SNC Mighty Pandas: End 2023

SNC Mighty Pandas (Series: 5-2, Games: 11-6) As one of our longer running teams, Sunset Ravens was formed back in SNC’s new era , having started about four splits ago. Last year’s leader, SNC WildStar, returned for duty once again and found himself surrounded by new faces—which also induced the name change to “Mighty Pandas.” While under heavy recruitment from other orgs and teams, WildStar knew his home was here at Snack Bears, where the snacks are salty and the jokes are sweet. New jungler eaglei1313 came via Twempest Fwame, as a friend of Amanda’s. Phallic Phenom and JamiesTurnTV were both new to SNC, teammates from a past Glacial teams And last but never least, there was Adarasto, who played with SNC’s own Grumpy Bears way back when. Over time, eaglei1313 had to unfortunately take a sub position due to time constraints and so another ex-Grumpy, XtheBeard, joined Mighty as the starting jungler. The core Mighty four played all fifteen games together this season, with XtheBeard gett
